Disability Sensitisation in the Workplace

Program Outcomes

The program assists organisations:

  • Provide a conducive workplace environment for persons with disabilities
  • Remove barriers and provide better access, retention and advancement of employees with disabilities
  • Increase employee confidence when interacting with colleagues and customers with disabilities
  • Meet Employment Equity targets by increased employee disability status disclosure.

What is included?

The full program includes 4 components:

    1. Diagnostic Surveys to help gain insight into current practices and attitudes towards disability inclusion in an organisation.
    2. Customised training. The full training course is accredited by the SABPP, offering 12 CPD points.
    3. Policy Consulting and guidance on inclusive policies that foster a supportive and accessible work environment.
    4. Environmental Surveys to assess the accessibility of the workplace and ensure inclusivity across all areas of operations.

Building an inclusive, accessible and human-centred workplace goes beyond policies and targets - it is reflected in everyday behaviour, workplace culture, and the way people experience work. Persons with disabilities are still significantly underrepresented in many organisations. Lasting inclusion is achieved when organisations intentionally create environments where people with disabilities have equal opportunities to contribute grow and succeed.

Use the program to help your organisation build an inclusive workforce. An inclusive workforce enables diverse ideas and creativity, which improves performance, processes and productivity. Diversity, equity and inclusion of persons with disabilities is a responsibility of all organisations and essential for an economy to thrive.

The online aspects of the program use the VirtualAssessor platform to provide surveys, content, assessments, track progress, email certificates and generate management reports.
